Allgaier Again the People's Champion, Wins NASCAR Xfinity Series Most Popular Driver Award

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 4, 2023) -- On the heels of another stellar season for JR Motorsports in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, Justin Allgaier has earned his fourth NASCAR Xfinity Series Most Popular Driver Award for 2023. Allgaier, driver of the No. 7 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet, was announced as the winner of the voting on Thursday night at the annual NASCAR Awards Banquet.

Allgaier's honor is the 12th consecutive in the NXS for a JRM driver following Noah Gragson's in 2022, and the 14th Most Popular Driver award for JRM in the past 16 seasons.

"I am beyond humbled and appreciative of being named Most Popular Driver for the fourth time in my career," a grateful Allgaier said upon the news. "I've always put a huge value on the fans and their experience, and how to make it better. The on-track success is always great, but being voted this award by the fans is an accomplishment that is impossible to describe.

"My family and I are forever grateful to everyone who voted and we look forward to seeing everyone next season."

After winning three straight MPD awards from 2019-21, Allgaier returned to the top of the voting in 2023 after posting four wins, 15 top-five and 20 top-10 finishes in 33 starts while leading 643 laps and earning three poles on the season.

Allgaier's three straight Most Popular Driver awards tied him with Elliott Sadler as the only drivers in series history to do so with the same team. Sadler was named the people's champion each year from 2016-18 while driving for JR Motorsports, and was the overall leader with four triumphs until Allgaier tied it up this season.

In addition to the four awards earned by Allgaier and Sadler, Brad Keselowski (2008-09), Chase Elliott (2014-15), Regan Smith (2013), Danica Patrick (2012) and Gragson (2022) are the other drivers to win the award for the team owned by Dale Earnhardt Jr. The team owner is a 15-time Most Popular Driver in the NASCAR Cup Series.
